There are several possible scenarios when you might want to change the billing date of a subscription. For example:
A customer has ran out of product and wants another shipment sooner than scheduled
You or a customer prefer for their payment method to be billed on a certain date
You or a customer previously paused a subscription, but now want to receive a new shipment immediately.
โ
Since Monto Subscriptions app uses Stripe, it is very simple to initiate a charge and change the ongoing billing date to today.
In Monto's Subscriptions page, click on the 3 little dots to the right of the subscription you want to edit. Then click "Open in Stripe"
In Stripe, click the "Actions" button in the top right and select "Update Subscription"
Check the option to "Reset Billing Cycle". This will change the billing cycle to today and immediately charge the customer the next payment of the subscription.
This is ideal for scenarios like the first one above where you want to charge the customer again the full regular amount because they are immediately getting a full shipment.
You also have the option to "Prorate changes" which means that you will be reducing their next payment by any "unused" time from the last billing period.
This likely should be left disabled for physical products depending on your circumstances. This would be useful for a software type subscription where there is no physical product to deliver and the time using the product is what the customer is paying for.
Then click the "Update Subscription" button at the bottom to save your changes.
OR, if you prefer to reset the billing date to a day in the future, you can click "Schedule Update" and select your desired date.
This will update the subscription in Stripe and Monto's Subscription tab to show the payment from today and the next payment will be a month from today (or whatever frequency your subscription is set to).
